As Leader and Chairman of ALPHA Liberal Democratic Reformist Political Party, Dr Emmanuel BEZZINA [ in the picture below we see him celebrating privately his 50th Birthday a few years back ], will most certainly be emphasizing once again the need to introduce a Divorce Law applicable to Maltese Citizens and Malta residents.

As the Maltese 1975 Marriage Act stands,incorporating the amendments to it over the years - particularly the obscene March 1, 1995, scandalous amendment which gave priority to the Maltese Curialistic Ecclessiastical Tribunal over our supposedly Independent Civil Courts ( !! ), a foreign Divorce Decree or Judgement given in accordance with the Marriage Laws of that particular, foreign country [ NOT ALL COUNTRIES ARE IN THIS RESPECT RECOGNIZED BY OUR TINY STATE ] IS ACCEPTED by Malta and a Maltese Citizen if involved can have such Decree or Judgement registered in the Malta Marriage Registry and that citizen would be legally entitled to remarry by means of a Civil Marriage.

Hence,MALTA in its typical political hypochrisy by our two major political parties does recognize DIVORCE but only in this manner,thus blatantly discriminating against those Maltese residing in Malta who may want to dissolve legally their marriage,but cannot do so simply because they are Maltese living and residing in the sovereign state of Malta.

Veteran Lawyer and Broadcaster Dr Bezzina wants this inhumane discrimination removed once and for all.Over the years, Dr Bezzina [ in private practice as a lawyer since November 1977 ] has orated many speeches, produced and presented various radio and television programmes, written numerous articles in several newspapers, and gave plenty of interviews , both to local and foreign journalists , on this topic of Divorce. Progress has indeed been registered socially and culturally because what was once a taboo topic is now not only discussed publicly, but the maltese tendency is why worry as to the political cowardice of our representatives in Parliament when truly you can do what you like - hardly the description of a constitutionally, catholic country !?!

The remaining six photographs depict a heated debate about DIVORCE in the popular XARABANK years-running Series of direct transmissions on State Television , on Friday, 12th Dicember, 1997, a month and nine days following Dr Bezzina`s fiftieth birthday.DR EMMY BEZZINA had been invited to attend by the XARABANK Team and was a protagonist on the Panel along with his archrival Dun Anton Gouder who also features in one of the exhibited photoes.The invitation had come merely four days before by means of a Fax dated 8th December,1997.

Dr Emmy BEZZINA is also The Chairman/Founder of The Malta Divorce Movement, a NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION.
